The University of Piraeus Research Center within the framework of the institutional framework that governs its operation, has set the vision to become a modern and internationally renowned research center which will contribute to the promotion and recognition of the University Piraeus as one of the top Europeans.
This project is implemented by the Data Science Lab (DataStories) of the University of Piraeus. The laboratory conducts research in a number of fields of Data Science, such as big data management, statistics and data analytics, machine learning, knowledge extraction from databases, text and audio, motion data exploration and data privacy. The laboratory has to show a significant experience in European research projects, most recently H2020-ICT Track & Know (Big Data for Mobility Tracking Knowledge Extraction in Urban Areas, 2018-20), H2020-MSCA-RISE MASTER (Multiple Aspects Trajectory Management and Analysis, 2018-22), H2020-ICT DATACRON (Big Data Analytics for Time Critical Mobility Forecasting, 2016-18). In its current composition, the laboratory includes the research activities of 9 faculty members (4 different Departments) of the University of Piraeus and supports several experienced and young researchers.
